Tiny Barbershop

The Tiny Barbershop is exactly what it sounds like… a tiny barbershop.

But, it’s not just any little barbershop. Located in the heart of downtown Clarksdale, Mississippi is a 400 square foot barbershop that is home to intimate music performances.

A functioning barbershop by day, by evening it transforms into a “Listening Room” - in service of the song.

The brain child of Bear Ryan - a local, career-musician - Bear wanted to create an intimate space where music fans could get close to the music. Where fans and artists could connect in way that you can only find in places like the Delta.

The Tiny Barbershop listening room supports original music. It aims to lift up songwriters and shine light on their craft. We host singer-songwriters, country, Americana, folk, blues, and more.

It’s an analog experience offering close proximity and minimal amplification. Tiny Barbershop shows are stripped-down, raw performances to create a feeling as though the audience is sitting in the musician’s own living room, on their front porch, or… hell… hanging with them at their local barbershop.

What is a “Listening Room”?

A “listening room” is a space where everyone SHUTS THE HELL UP!

And…. listens.

While said a little “tongue and cheek” we do, actually, expect tongues to be still, cheeks to relax, and mouths to stay shut while songs are being performed.

Have you ever used your hard-earned money to pay for tickets to see your favorite artist or band… but couldn’t enjoy the show for all the yammering in the club? Well, that’s why listening rooms were created.

Now, don’t worry. You ain’t gonna be seated at a church pew and have your wrists smacked with a ruler if you wiggle too much. But, you will be seated in a snug setting, able to give your undivided attention to the performer, and hang on every word sung and note plucked.

Banter and conversation with the Artists (should they be open to it) between the songs is absolutely encouraged. That, friends, is where the MAGIC’s at!

The social experiment that is “Tiny Barbershop” began in 2025. Bear Ryan performs - regularly - and hosts visiting musicians. Scheduled musicians are listed below. Future dates will be added. The 2026 roster is full.

The shop seats about 15 - 20 people. Cover is $10 - $20 depending on lineup. Cash only.

We ain’t fancy. So, don’t expect fancy.
